Scottish Community Foundation

The Scottish Community Foundation acts as the Scottish agent for the National Lottery’s Fair Share Trust which ran for 5 years in Scotland. devlinbeattie partnership evaluated two Fair Share Trust programme areas, rural South Lanarkshire and Charleston, Dundee.


North Alliance

A partnership of the seven Community Learning and Development Partnerships in the north of Scotland, the North Alliance has commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to assess and analyse the continuing professional development (CPD) needs of the workforce and prepare a business plan to direct future CPD. Phase two of this project involves setting the structures and processes that will support the delivery of the business plan.


Govanhill and Pollokshields Integration Network

Operating in the most ethnically diverse community in Scotland with 26 languages spoken, Govanhill and Pollokshields Integration network commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to review its action plan and facilitate workshops to set direction and priorities for the coming year.


Stirling Community Interest Company

Stirling’s Community Interest Company commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to examine the feasibility of establishing a one-stop-shop for community and voluntary organisations in the Stirling area. The project involved widespread engagement with the third sector and community planning partners, property developers and funding bodies to ensure the most appropriate working model was identified.


South East CHCP, Glasgow

The South East CHCP recognised the value and impact of the work of Nan McKay Hall, a community resource in Pollokshields delivering services to older people and families. devlinbeattie partnership was commissioned to prepare a business plan for the hall, a working plan that would set direction for the future, support full cost recovery and clarify the roles of all local stakeholders. The plan was developed with the voluntary board, all of whom actively engaged with the business planning process, resulting in a plan with a strong sense of ownership amongst those responsible for taking it forward.


SAMH

SAMH, Scotland’s leading mental health charity, took the decision to implement a recovery approach throughout the organisation. devlinbeattie partnership worked with SAMH’s Recovery Team to monitor and evaluate how successful this was, including the barriers faced by services throughout the country in implementing this new approach. The review took place over 9 months of the implementation phase, measuring progress made, making proposals for ongoing change and drawing conclusions to help ensure the approach would continue to be reflected throughout SAMH.


Stirling Council

Stirling Council (Community Services) recognised that its arrangements for funding voluntary organisations did not reflect best practice as outlined in The McLelland Report or Audit Scotland’s Following the Public Pound findings. It commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to review arrangements and make recommendations for the future. As a result, the Council is implementing contractual arrangements with organisations it funds, where both parties are clear about reporting, accountability and expectations about added value.


NHS Lanarkshire

As part of its modernisation programme and commitment to improving services to patients, NHS Lanarkshire commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to detail the patient experience in ‘Patient Narratives’ in cardio-thoracic, orthopaedics, general surgery, dermatology, emergency medical, eye care, oncology, respiratory and rheumatology services. The narratives contributed to a series of training workshops for senior clinical staff working in the acute sector.


ZetTrans

ZetTrans, Shetland’s transport partnership, commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to facilitate a series of local transport forums to identify the priorities of transport providers and users throughout the Shetland mainland. The forums focussed on cost effective improvements to existing services as well as coming up with proposals for change that would contribute to Shetland’s economic and social sustainability.


Children 1st

Children 1st (the campaigning name of the Royal Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children), is recognised as a leader in abuse and trauma recovery work but lacked a set of standards against which all abuse and recovery practice could be measured. devlinbeattie partnership worked with local Children 1st services and past service users to establish best practice standards which were readily adopted nationally.


South Lanarkshire Regeneration Partnership

During the 3 years of Community Regeneration Funding (CRF) South Lanarkshire regeneration partnership invested £2 million in youth diversionary activity. The partnership commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to evaluate the impact of the investment and make recommendations for future diversionary activity.


The Electoral Commission with LANDED

LANDED, the peer education service for Lanarkshire, piloted a programme aimed at increasing young people’s engagement with democracy, for The Electoral Commission in the lead up to the Scottish Parliamentary Election 2007. devlinbeattie partnership evaluated the approach including lessons learned to inform a national roll out.


Scottish Natural Heritage

In 2007, Scottish Natural Heritage established its new set of working themes and priorities and wanted to involve staff throughout the country in exploring the implications for local programmes and practice. devlinbeattie partnership helped design and deliver a series of national staff conferences including training local staff to facilitate small groups using interactive techniques.


Glasgow Healthy City Partnership

To prepare for the introduction of Community Health and Care Partnerships (CHCPs), Glasgow Healthy City Partnership commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to review the city’s 7 community health projects and make recommendations for future delivery of community health work in the CHCPs. The review involved full organisational reviews of all local community health activity including governance, structure, value for money and sustainability.


South Ayrshire Council with Ayr College

Having piloted a jointly funded and managed community learning centre in Girvan, South Ayrshire Council and Ayr College commissioned devlinbeattie partnership to evaluate the pilot and make recommendations about how best to maintain and take forward its impact. A wide range of students, including those with additional needs, were involved in the evaluation. Methods and techniques to ensure the evaluation was inclusive, were used throughout.


Perth and Kinross Council

Perth and Kinross Council wanted to provide staff with online resources to support improvement in community engagement. devlinbeattie partnership was commissioned to prepare an online toolkit covering: the context and purpose of community engagement, engaging with hard to reach groups, approaches and techniques, resources to support engagement, good practice case studies. devlinbeattie partnership delivered a series of follow up practice workshops to offer hands on experience of approaches and techniques.
